SGM Welcomes Year of the Rooster with Joyous Gatherings

January 28 marked the first day of the Lunar New Year in the Year of the Rooster. On this day, SGM members gathered at SGM centres nationwide to joyfully welcome the Lunar New Year. People wearing the auspicious colour red can be seen everywhere at the centres.

The attendees began with vigorous daimoku and gongyo, praying for world peace, the country’s prosperity and the happiness of humanity.

SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai attended the celebration at the SGM Selangor Culture Centre in Klang. In his speech, he urged everyone to rise up to action and share Buddhism with people around them for the sake of repaying their debt of gratitude to SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. He stressed the importance of being united in the spirit of many in body, one in mind in order to be victorious.

Members from all four divisions presented various performances to enliven the atmosphere of these gatherings. Attendees left the gatherings filled with hope and joy for the coming year.
