From September 10 to 25, 2011, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) held an exhibition entitled "The Splendour of Peace - Malaysian Women Artists Exhibition" at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM as the opening to its Month of Peace campaign. A joint event organised by SGM, Ms June Yap of June Art Space and Ms Cheong Mei Fong of Island Gallery, the exhibition was opened by YBhg Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Secretary General of the Malaysia-China Cultural and Arts Association.

In her address, Datin Paduka Chew stated that SGM's excellent promotion of peace and education is praise-worthy and that advocating peace is second nature to women. She added that it was a very noble undertaking by these 32 women artists to spread and plant seeds of a peace in Malaysia through their art.

Also present were SGM General Director Choo Kong Fei and SGM Women Division Leader Ow Yin Peng. In her speech, Mdm Ow mentioned that we must not allow hatred to create more violence in society and added that SGM hopes to bring about a peaceful society by creating peaceful impetus through dialogue and the arts. In her speech, Ms June Yap said that she hoped mothers will emphasise education and cultivate peace awareness in their children so that the society will be more peaceful in the future.

The exhibition featured artists aged 18 till 85, displaying more than 60 works in media such as oil, acrylic, Chinese ink and batik. Although presented in various styles and covering various subject matters, each artwork represented the artist's view, ideology and sentiment for peace.
