SGM Perak Holds Dialogue on Harmony among Religions

On October 23, 2011 a forum entitled "Dialogue on Harmony among Religions" was held for the first time by TV Al-Hijrah in collaboration with the Prime Minister's Department, Majlis Agama Islam Dan Adat Melayu Perak, Jabatan Agama Islam Perak, the Chinese-Muslim Association of Ipoh (Macma-Ipoh) and SGM Perak. More than 500 people attended the forum.

The forum was officiated by Al'Fadhil Ustaz Harith Fadhilah b Hj Abdul Halim and attended by Dato' Dr Fadzli Cheah, Chairman of Macma-Ipoh; officials from Jabatan Agama Islam, Perak as well as Macma members from Selangor, Terenganu and Negeri Sembilan. This was followed with the presentation of cultural dances reflecting the spirit of 1Malaysia by SGM-Perak while Studio Muallaf performed a medley of songs.

The forum served to make known that all religions called for unity and harmony and to foster common understanding and close ties with each other irrespective of creed, race and colour.

Representing SGM Perak were Mr Tan Sai Hoi and Mdm Fung Poh Chee. Among the topics shared were the role of Soka Gakkai Malaysia played in promoting peace through education, arts and culture and the life philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism which brings about inner transformation of the believers.

The other speakers included Mr Abdul Naser Abdul Rahman @ Xifu Naser and Dr Yamin Cheng, both lecturers from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa. The forum was moderated by Mr Robby @ Muhd Zaid Tandang from Studio Muallaf.
